Leona Glennie

Registrar for The Scottish Register

Hello, my name is Leona Glennie, and my sign name is this…. I’m a profoundly deaf BSL user and I also have Usher Syndrome type 1.

I grew up in the north east of Scotland and have lived there ever since- in Aberdeenshire-  but am about to move to the central belt soon, based between Glasgow and Edinburgh!

I have worked at NESS (North East Sensory Services ) for the last ten years,  working on their database to put together information about clients with various forms of sensory loss, such as hard of hearing, deaf, deafblind or blind etc, across the whole of the north east of Scotland.

This is similar to the new role I am taking on as Registrar for The Scottish Register  – administering the register for BSL/English interpreters [etc]right across Scotland.  I will start working for The Scottish Register from 7th June 2021 and am very much looking forward to it!
